Teaching

Dr Escribano is Director of the MSc in Transport and the MSc in Transport with Data Science at Imperial College London, and teaches the modules below.

CIVE70106

Air Transportation

MSc Transport cluster (PG)Spring term2023 – present

The module covers the air transportation system as a whole, from aircraft operations and key technologies to the human factors that keep flights safe.

It also examines how international aviation regulation and governance shape the sector, and how unmanned aircraft systems can be safely integrated into urban airspace.

Freight Transport

MSc Transport cluster (PG)Spring term2020 – present

The module gives an overview of freight transport operations and of the mathematical modelling techniques used to manage supply chains and design efficient freight distribution strategies.

It focuses on analytical methods, decision models and optimisation tools for the safe, cost-efficient and timely distribution of goods within cities, within countries and across borders.

MSc admissions

Applying to the MSc programmes

Both programmes are one year full-time (or two years part-time) and start each October at the South Kensington campus. For questions about the programmes or the modules, email Dr Escribano or the department's postgraduate office at cvpgo@imperial.ac.uk.

The programmes

  • MSc in Transport: this advanced graduate programme will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed for a career in the modern transport sector. Understand the causes and motivations behind the movement of people and goods across the wide range of available modes of transport.
  • MSc in Transport with Data Science: understand the fundamental concepts and techniques for the planning, design, management and delivery of transport infrastructure on this one-year course. You will develop an understanding of machine learning and statistical optimisation to solve complex engineering design problems, working effectively as a group.

Each course page lists the entry requirements, fees and current application deadlines.

How to apply

Follow Imperial's official postgraduate taught application process, which sets out how to apply, the application fee and the documents you need. It is kept up to date by the university, so please check it there rather than relying on a summary.

Scholarships and funding

The department offers its own MSc scholarships, including tuition fee scholarships open to all its MSc programmes. See the department's MSc scholarships and funding page, which also links to Imperial's scholarship search, external scholarships and loans.
